The year 2020 stunk, so we decided it was time to reinvest in our house and renovate the kitchen. The old kitchen was small, dark, and not conducive to teaching cooking classes. Best move we ever made. The new SheCooks.Design kitchen is bright, open, and a total workhorse. If you know me, you know this room is where I am, 90% of my workday, and now it’s such a joy to work in Recipe development, classes, recipes and photography for this website, all are done in this amazing space.
Who are the miracle workers?
We couldn’t have done this without the accomplished Laura Bischoff of Metropolis Design Group. Laura’s creativity and vision were remarkable. She kept with the era and romance of our 1920’s home, yet with all the amazing modern conveniences (did you see the knife slot in the counter, and we have two!) a girl could hope for.
All of this also wouldn’t have happened without the PK Salt team. Kurt, Pat, Sam, and all their subs were outstanding. Couldn’t recommend them more. They were responsive from the very start, answered my calls, and figured out every pickle this old house put them in. And trust me, there were some pickles, oftentimes me!
Some of the miracles
Removing the old dining room wall gave new breath and light to the whole first floor. Something we had wanted to do since the day we moved in 24 years ago. The dining room is now part of the living room (thank you Brian!), using up the awkward long space. We have a gorgeous green ‘velvet’ sectional couch in the kitchen (or shall we call it a family room?), just like the burbs.
The hubs will ask what would I do differently, and always my answer…not a thing. I’m the luckiest girl in the world.
If you have any questions about our renovation, don’t hesitate to get ahold of me. I’d be happy to chat.
Enjoy the show!
