So, the next post you see from me will be from Ireland! I leave tomorrow, what a way to start 2020!
2019 went pretty well (I’m talking personally, not globally, we need some work on that!), so I’m going to leave it at that! No need to dwell on the past, I like to say, especially with what I have in store for me starting tomorrow.
First, I’d like to thank everyone who left voicemails (sorry, haven’t even listened to them yet, trying to pack and finish up a big design project, more on that cool gig later!). The text messages, notes, lunches, dinners, and wines. Oh, and some of the greatest gifts, perfect for my travels (euro coins for my purse (and for good luck, I’ll need it), light up zipper clip, travel-sized Aveda lotions, local goodies (aka Nut Goodies and wild rice to share) AND a hand-knit hat from my sissie. Wow.) I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Honestly, the love and support have almost been overwhelming. I can’t say more, or I’ll cry. But thank you, I hope to return the love with great photos, stories, and a recipe or two 🙂 whilst I’m there.

This link goes directly to the course I’m taking, but explore the whole site, I truly don’t think I’ve seen a school like this anywhere around here. My days will be full, very full (we eat too!) Luckily I have a 4-mile round trip walk every day (no car). The town of Blackrock looks adorable (from too much) Google mapping, of course! Love that street view feature.
The town I’ll be living in is called Stillorgan. I need to learn how to pronounce the names of these places. Sort of like ‘Shelagh’, many names look more complicated then they sound (btw, my name is pronounced she-la). Case in point Dún Laoghaire (pronounced dun-leer-y, thanks Molly Berigan! 🙂
I’d love to hear suggestions of places (especially foodie stuff!) you’ve been to or heard about in Ireland. Eating, drinking, coffee, exploring. We’ve been to the standards (Guinness, and yes, we’ll be back, amazing exhibit) but staying away from touristy places is my preference. Drop me an email, I’ve been collecting places for months.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Irish Gazette, I’ll be a guest columnist for the next 3-months. It’s really a great little paper. Here’s my first article for the December issue. I look forward to meeting with Jim and Mary Sue (the publishers) next weekend in Dublin.
